Happy New Years Everybody!

Posted: January 6th, 2009

Have we all made our ‘09 resolutions?  Well, I have!  In fact I made several!

One, if I fish with Roland Martin again this year, like I have for the past 4 years, I’m running the trolling motor.

2nd, I’m planning on fishin’ at least once a week this year (ha!)

3rd I’m going on that “Subway” diet.  If Jared Fogle can lose 245 pounds in one year eating 6″ turkey subs for lunch and foot long veggie subs for dinner, plus a small bag of baked potato chips with lunch and diet drinks throughout the day, no cheese, no oil or mayo!  Heck, I believe I can do that!  Figure it like this, if I can only do it for 3 months, that’s 81 6/7 pounds.  Oh yeah, he walked 30 minutes everyday and guess what? … I think I can do that too, even if its in my bass boat! (check out KlotzerM@subway.com)..

4th I’m planning on helping our lure sponsor, Pradco, design a few new lures for ‘09 that even Jimmy Houston can catch a bass on.

5th I hope to help Hank Parker on his Big Bass techniques.  Surely in ‘09 he can catch a 4 pounder and possibly learn that Trilene is a fishing line, not a cough syrup.

6th I promise to continue to make Bill Dance fresh and saltwater shows more entertaining, more educational and better than ever!

Until our lines cross, catch one for me.

Happy New Years to you Mr. Dance
I watch your show billdance outdoors all the time and I believe in everything you promote, in fact every lure you promote I buy and believe me when I say they work. I’ve been fishing for 40 years (ever since I was four years old). I live on Bethel Isalnd, Ca. the California Delta and I have a lot of luck with big bass. the largest Large mouth Bass I’ve caught was 21 inches in lenght and weight was 11lbs 3oz and I caught it on a terminator spinner bait (my third cast, it took me about 10mins to land her. Iwould like to take this opportunity to Thank-You for all you great imformation and to keep up the great work.

After over thirty years of receiving your truckloads of golden information and tons of your positive attitude and infectious fishing spirit and energy, I decided that it was time to drop you a line, express my appreciation, and ask you one question. More than any other single influence, I credit you with training me for a life-long and incredibly satisfying pastime which I have shared with my children and now, my grandchildren. God bless you, Bill Dance. May you be chunkin’ and windin’ a hundred years from now, and may I share the deck of a nineteen-footer on that 20-acre farm pond in the sky! Oh,yeah, my question. Bill, the makers of red fishing line claim that their product disappears in three feet of water, yet we have lure makers selling us deep-diving baits with red “blood trail” markings. So, what’s up, you old Vol fan? Do fish “see red”or not?
Thanks again. Oh, and I even enjoy your sense of humor. Should I be worried?
Fellow largemouth lover,
Jef (with one ‘f’) Wilson
p.s. Houston should shoot his show without sound- being from Oklahoma AND having that laugh is too much.

Bill, Where can I get a couple of hats like yours??
Fishing Tip: try trolling or casting a gold Heddon Sonar for pike. This summer I caught several nice pike in Montana using an ultra light Fenwick rod and 4 pound test line. No leader was used. I managed to fight one that was between 36 and 40 inches all the way up to the boat. Our trout net wasn’t even big enough to get over the fishes’ head. Eventually the hook pulled out.
How do you boat a fish like that without a large net and still retain your fingers?
Cordially,
Ron
