Truex takes the No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Toyota to victory lane at Pocono Raceway
Reigning 2017 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Martin Truex Jr., driver of the No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Toyota Camry, scored his second win of the Monster Energy Cup Series season, Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Truex conquered the 2.5-mile ‘tricky triangle’ to win Sunday’s Pocono 400. The Pocono win is Truex’s 17th of his career in NASCAR’s top division.
“I feel like we’re getting back to what we were doing last year,” said Truex. “It’s always nice to win but especially when you beat the best guys out there.”
Kyle Larson took second place in the Chip Ganassi Racing No. 42 Chevrolet. Kyle Busch took third in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 Toyota.
Truex, a 2015 winner at Pocono Raceway, entered today’s race fifth in driver point standings. His steady and stable performance this season has resulted in two wins, eight top-fives, eight top-10s and three poles. The Pocono race marks the halfway point of the regular season.
Earlier today, Truex accepted the 2017 Eastern Motorsport Press Association Driver of the Year Award for the second straight season and third overall.
Bass Pro Shops previously sponsored Truex from 2004 and 2009 while part of Dale Earnhardt Inc. This stretch included two Xfinity Series championships for Truex – 2004 and 2005.
