Mercury Marine sets additional records at the 2020 Miami International Boat Show

For the second straight year, Mercury Marine displayed a record number of engines at the Miami International Boat Show – in 2020, showcasing 115 engines more than any other outboard manufacturer at the show. This marks four consecutive major Florida saltwater boat shows where Mercury had not only record share, but more engines than any other manufacturer on display. Mercury also set records at both the 2018 and 2019 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show.

With the 450R on display in Miami for the first time as well as an increased presence of the 200-300hp lineup at the show, Mercury's brand recognition in this key saltwater market continues to grow.

"We had 16 boats in the water for customers to experience and all 16 products were from different OEM's," said Chris Drees, Mercury Marine president. "In addition, we collaborated with some of our key partners who had multiple boats with Mercury engines as well as OEM's who displayed our engines for the first time. Coming into the show, I was confident that we would not only increase our share in Miami, but to have the number of engines we had on the back of the boats on display was not only a beautiful sight to see, but consistent with our growth strategy."

In addition to the share gains, Mercury Racing's 450R won the prestigious NMMA Innovation Award in the outboard category. Also, in 2020, Mercury launched the new 60R in addition to showcasing its 450R, new tiller handle and 1st Mate safety system in Miami for the first-time. Mercury's exhibit was filled with boat builders who showcased multiple engine applications, the entire suite of Mercury technology including Joystick Piloting, Active Trim, Skyhook, Vessel View and more.

"Many of the customers we are working with today, didn't have a relationship with us just a few years ago," said Randy Caruana, Mercury Marine vice president of the Americas and Asia Pacific. "We are growing together with key OEM's and they are not only offering Mercury to their customers, but they are now recommending Mercury – and that's a testament to world-class product, great relationships and trust that we have worked hard to build with our customers."

"2018 was the year of the 175-300 launch; In 2019 we had to catch up with sales capacity in addition to launching the 400 Verado," said Drees. "In 2020 and beyond, we will continue to define the market not just in product and manufacturing, but with unprecedented demand and an increase in manufacturing; the future continues to look bright for Mercury Marine."
