Mercury Marine Wins Award for V12 600hp Verado
Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), has won the 2022 European Powerboat of the Year Innovation Award for the 7.6L V12 600hp Verado outboard engine, marking the first time a marine propulsion solution has received the prestigious award.
The Innovation Award, presented only when extraordinary innovation occurs in the market, recognizes trendsetting new products and systems in the marine industry. The jury of the European Powerboat of the Year Awards includes test riders and editors-in-chief of the leading European motorboat magazines. The awards, which are usually announced in-person at the Dusseldorf Boat Show, were announced virtually by jury member Ralf Marquard in a video presented by BOOTE-TV.

This is the second recent announcement of a major award going to the V12 Verado outboard, which was named the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovation Award honoree in the Vehicle & Transportation category.
Launched in February 2021, the 600hp Verado outboard includes the following innovations:
- The world's first V12 outboard, the 600hp Verado engine features a naturally aspirated, quad‑cam powerhead that generates impressive torque to accelerate heavier boats rapidly.
- The industry's first integrated automatic transmission for an outboard optimizes engine performance and fuel economy for both acceleration and cruise.
- Advanced hydrodynamic contra-rotating dual propellers (4 blades in front, 3 in rear) improve performance with more total blade area.
- The industry's first steerable gearcase on an outboard pivots independently underwater while the engine's powerhead remains in a compact, fixed position, providing more room for multi‑engine configurations and a wider steering angle for agile handling.
- A comprehensive new noise-management system under the cowl and the next-generation Advanced MidSection make the V12 Verado engine the quietest and smoothest high-horsepower outboard ever built.
The European Powerboat of the Year Award jury includes representatives from the following European motorboat magazines: Båtmagasinet (Norway), BoatMag (Italy), BOOTE (Germany), Motorboot (Netherlands), MoteurBoat (France), Nautica y Yates (Spain), Neptune (France), Marina CH (Switzerland), and Yachtrevue (Austria).
