Hello everyone. I just found this forum this morning and thought I'd join in the fun. I've been a fan and follower of BDO since I was station in San Antonio in 1978. Over the years I've watched the show almost religiously, primarily because I felt Bill wasn't a "look how many fish I can catch in a half hour show" type of fisherman, but a "let me teach you what I've learned" type of fisherman. I lost contact with his show in 1997 when I moved to Canada because none of the cable companies carried the show, but recently my cable provider picked up the Sportsmen Channel so I'm back in the groove!
I've tried to pattern my fishing learning process after what I've learned from Bill. I've even still maintained several of the baits that he's endorsed over the years, like the Spittin' Image and Badonkadonk! Several years ago, I purchased my bass boat from a tournament fisherman who needed to upgrade to a larger rig. I didn't really pay much attention to it at the time, but now realize it's the same make and color that Bill used on his show in the late 1990's (white/blue 1999 Procraft Pro 176).
Looking forward to sharing and contributing to what looks like a fun place to share fishing stories.

I am now a shore fisherman. I had to sell my Jon Boat. I Couldn't handle it by myself anymore. Those batteries are heavy!!
I sold it to a young guy with 2 boys. My Lowe Jon was in perfect shape, trailer had new tires and was in great shape. I gave him everything I had for the boat. Life jackets, Trolling motor, Removable seats, etc. I like keeping my fishing stuff in good condition. Sold it last summer for $500. Sad to see it go!!
One year till i'm 80. Where did the time go??  lol  I see myself slowing down!
Looking forward to my GranSon fishing with me this year. He's a good kid and likes fishing with his GranPop.

I have seen on TV where the Pros talk about they say the bass feel the signal in there lateral lines so they back off from the cone. I have been using markers since the 70's and I always used it to mark  underwater breaks. and crank bait them . Structure  like trees and such in say a 10 to 15 ft of water I would never gave it a thought to pitch into it with a worm .

Some years back we had a boat coming in just outside the lake Michigan channel hitting another boat dead center we motored over to lend assistance . The boat that was run over had 2 people in it the man had injury's to his legs one leg was hanging on with just the skin I found out later he survived but lost both legs. The woman I recognized I knew her she worked in the office where I worked  she had lost her right arm and a lot of bleeding and some head injury's  . the drivers of the boat that hit the boat was intoxicated there was 4 people on board and no one was injured I also found out later this same driver was ticketed before this 3 times for alcohol and operating a boat. In Michigan they can arrest you for this. Sad this had to happen was completely avoidable
