I think that is a really big bass for your neck of the woods.  Congrats.

I have caught 3 8s on Stockton but that was a long time ago.  6.5 is the largest I have had this year.

In a lake - 7.13 pounds on a slither rig.
In a pond - 9 pounds on a spinnerbait.

This time last year my wife caught 2 different bass, in two locations that were 10 lbs each. They were not the same fish as the bar pattern on the sides were different. She was fishing for bluegills using a slip bobber and nightcrawlers. The bobbers did not react like a bass hit but more like a soft bluegill strike, the bobber did not go all the way under and just jiggled and moved a little and then just stayed in one spot and bobbed. When she set the hook, the lake exploded. We had to walk it to the ramp because she only had 8 lb test and couldn't bring it onto the dock. I had scales so I am sure of the weights, but, no camera. sorry.

This was definitely my biggest bass in 2018. Hoping to break that this year. Didn't weight but definitely in that 5 + lb range.
