Hey ya’ll

Well, we just got back from a fun and exciting trip with two of my ole fishin’ buddies, Johnny Morris and Roland Martin. We shot a show for our Bill Dance Saltwater series out of Everglade City, FL.
Our intentions were to shoot a Cobia show, but as the best laid plans go, they never seem to work out that way. However, we did manage to catch a few and a whole lot of other exciting species.
Roland caught a 60 pound Sailfish in 30′ of water just off the coast, which is rare as frog hair. We all used Cabo 30 reels on medium action 7′ Boca rods and caught a number of King Mackerel in the 20-30 pound class along with Mangrove Snappers, Blue Runners and some stuff I’ve never heard of.
Ya’ll gotta remember, I can’t spell the word saltwater! That’s why I go each week with an authoritative person and why I’m always asking tons of questions.
What added to the fun was catching all these fish on light tackle. I’m as serious as I can be about what I’m going to tell you. The first king I caught weighed 26 pounds and took 20 minutes to land. The next fish was a 25 pound Cobia that took 18 minute to land. Wish you could have been there to watch and hear Johnny and Roland dish out all the advice on how to play and land each fish. But, if you catch our show titled, “Forty Years & Goin’ Strong” on The Outdoor Channel, you’ll see what I mean. Our title was inspired by our 40 year friendship.
We all never dreamed our business or personal relationship would last this long. It has, and believe me, today it’s stronger than ever!
